15-minute meal: Yakiniku Donburi (Japanese BBQ rice bowl)

Are you a busy parent of hungry teenaged children, but still want to cook a nice and comforting home-cooked meal for your family? Then this recipe would be perfect for you. You can never go wrong with this satisfying bowl of rice with Japanese BBQ beef on top and surely satisfy your family, although it can be prepared under 15mints.

-INGREDIENTS-(serves 4)
800g beef kalbi(rib slices) 5mm thick
180ml Yakiniku sauce (your favourite soy sauce-based Yakiniku sauce)
1200g cooked Japanese rice
12tbsp Tororo imo(grated Japanese mountain yam) *optional
A few pinches toasted sesame seeds
A few pinches Ichimi-togarashi (Japanese chilli pepper)
1 tsp Wasabi

-METHOD-
1. Heat a pan on a medium heat and place the slices of kalbi without overlapping. Cook both sides for 20 to 30 seconds or so. (Do this process in two batches if all the slices don’t fit in the pan)

2. Add the Yakiniku sauce into the pan and combine with the kalbi and turn off the heat.

3. Put 300g of rice into each bowl and pour over 3tbsp of the Tororo-Imo. Lay the cooked kalbi on top and drizzle with the sauce in the pan.

4. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and Ichimi-togarashi. Put the 1/2 tsp of Wasabi on top of each Donburi.
